Brave Freedom Fighter Amena Zaman Memorial Scholarship for Female Excellence in the Study of Physics
As a couple, Amena Zaman and Md. Noor Uz Zaman, spearheaded numerous causes for the betterment of the people of Bangladesh. These causes include being the freedom fighters for the independence of Bangladesh, establishing educational institutions, and working with people in the rural area to improve their living in every aspects of life. They were pioneers in promoting education for all throughout their lives. This particular memorial scholarship is designed to promote female excellence in science education, particularly in physics. Amena Zaman promoted all levels of education for females, starting from primary education to higher education. She started it at home by encouraging her own four daughters for higher education. Due to her persistent encouragement and commitment, and the diligence of her daughters, Noor Un Nahar, Niru Shamsun Nahar, Nazmun Nahar, and Niru Kamrun Nahar, her dream was realized; all her daughters attained graduate degrees from the USA. Two of her daughters, Noor Un Nahar and Niru Kamrun Nahar, completed their BSc honours from the Physics Department of Dhaka University. To commemorate her passion for math and sciences and for excellence in studies, Mrs. Zaman’s family is committed to promote the study of Physics for females at Dhaka University through this scholarship. This scholarship will not only celebrate the excellence of top female physics students, but will also inspire Bangladeshi females to take initiatives in science & technology and realize dreams to better Bangladesh.
Brave Freedom Fighter Md. Noor Uz Zaman Memorial Scholarship for Excellence in the Islamic Studies
As a couple, Md. Noor Uz Zaman and Amena Zaman, spearheaded numerous causes for the betterment of the people of Bangladesh. These causes include being the freedom fighters for the independence of Bangladesh, establishing educational institutions, and working with people in the rural area to improve their living in every aspects of life. They dedicated their house as the liberation camp in 1971. Also, Mr. Noor Uz Zaman was the organizer and the civil administrator of the independence war in Dhamrai Upzila. They were pioneers in promoting education for all throughout their lives. Besides traditional education they also have always appreciated the importance of religious education to avert sectarian tensions. They deeply believed that abuse of religion can only take place in the absence of proper and unadulterated knowledge about religion. As an avid reader, Md. Noor Uz Zaman read about Islam extensively. He encouraged his eight children to achieve highest level of secular education along with religious education, which would guide them to better the greater society. Due to his persistent encouragement and commitment, he was able to realize his dream. This particular memorial scholarship is designed to promote excellence in Islamic Studies. To commemorate his passion for both secular and religious education, Mr. Zaman’s family is committed to promote excellence in Islamic Studies at Dhaka University through this scholarship. This scholarship will not only celebrate the excellence of top students, but will also show that the light that Islam may provide for Bangladesh to realize its dreams.
